I though the quizzes were irresistable. Can't. Stop. Playing. This. Curse Lee for putting it on his site!
Found in the latest Tuesday Morning Quarterback (yes, I know it's Friday. I'm busy. Mostly. Well, I just saw it. Sometimes it takes me a long time to get through this one because I read it at work. Well, no, I didn't start it Tuesday - I started it today. Early today. What's up with this parenthetical train of thought/stream of consciousness rambling?):
Recently seen in a car rented from Hertz: When the "Never Lost" GPS gizmo is turned on for directions, tiny letters appear on its screen. You must stare intently at the screen and squint to read the tiny letters. The letters are a disclaimer that says, "Do not stare at screen while driving."

"State Of" Speeches Are Like Porn Because... by Kevin at Wizbang
Aaaah! I can't stop taking these quizzes! This is the latest for me, thanks to Oh no, the Blog! BTW, I scored 7/10 - not bad for only recognizing ONE! Blind dumb luck...

The fair madam has planned on sleeping through the night tonight. I have a feeling I won't.

Update (the next morning): Mrs. D didn't end up sleeping through - Emma shouted for mummy and mummy answered. I, on the other hand, slept just fine, thankyouverymuch! Tonight, I think, the fair madam sleeps downstairs where the sleep-depriver can't get her.
Early start today. Yesterday I neglected to reference Joshua's take on the immigration hypocrisy and that was a mistake on my part. You should read this.

Read this review on 1 and 1 hosting company. Today is your last day to switch hosting companies for free! Wizbang and King of Fools have details.
What the heck, as long as I'm becoming so intimately familiar with changing comment hosts, I might as well do it again. This time it's Haloscan, who promises to keep all of the original comments that were lost when Blogspeak folded. My apologies to those who have to refill the supposedly "remembered" personal info.
I made the Carnival of the Vanities this week, hosted by Poliblogger. Go there and read everyone else - lots of goodness.
Must reads for today:
Jonathan wonders
Is Dean a Manning or a McNabb?
The eldest Walinchus daughter has taken home the National Western Stock Show stick-bull riding contest.
Much too hearty of a laugh this early in the morning! Joe Carter has been told the truth about conservatives. Forget Neo-Cons - now we have Maxim-cons!

Reactions to Iowa - mixed for me. I'm not surprised that Dean didn't do as well as (he) expected. As Lileks puts it, "This was not a rejection of the Dean message. This was a rejection of the messenger. He has only himself to blame; this race was his to lose, and he lost it. He inhaled his own vapors." Kerry surprised me, though. I didn't think he had it in him - or rather, I didn't think he could convince your average Hawkeye that he had "it." I really expected Gephardt to do much better. To me, he's the only legitimate Democratic candidate that would give the president a run for his money. I say legitimate about Gephardt because the only decent candidate of the bunch, in my opinion, is Lieberman but they'll never nominate him. With Gephardt gone, effective today, the Dems have an even smaller chance than before.

One point of consternation, though. The rise of Clark makes me nervous. I see this as an attempt by the Clintonistas to grab the power back with their sweaty paws. Clark is now the one to watch, but only for that reason.

JB Doubtless has a must read today - a question for the ages, really.
Oh dear, Hugh has been named Keeper of the Collegiate Peaks in Colorado. This could be bad. Lileks pointed out that there could be serious tax implications unless he gets paid with "goats and fruit baskets." The Colorado mountains are not getting safer. This is what happened the last time the Keeper was in the state (thanks to the Fraters boys). Be afraid.
Anne is back. I stumbled on her site through someone else's blogroll (sorry, can't remember who) and really enjoy her writing. Like Kira, she actually has something to say. Unlike Kira, she doesn't post as often. She probably doesn't have such a hard time grocery shopping, either.

I know, I know, no new posts. Sorry, but I've been overwhelmed the last few days. Last week I had to write annual reviews for my employees (wouldn't you prefer I take my time with those if it were you?), I had an awards ceremony at the Nuggets game (they lost), started two new classes (final semester of the 15 year plan!), and did all of it with the specter of an impromptu interview hanging over my head (they put it off 'till Tuesday). So, um, sorry.

I haven't stopped reading everyone else, though.
Annika's gone and has guest bloggers, Jared takes on MoveOn.org's idiocy, JD has everything (as usual), and Bene's been mentioned in print talking about blogging. there, you have plenty to read while I finish my homework.
